  • Description: This NEW program will consist of online lectures, videos, assignments and on-site practical evolutions to meet the competencies for certification in the State of New Jersey and Pro Board Certification. This course will meet the N.F.P.A. 1001 standard for level I certification. This course is designed to instruct the students on the subjects / modules required for Fire Fighter I certification. Attending students will be required to pass a Pro-Board written examination, and tested on all practical skills to receive their accreditation.
  • Requirement(s): Students will need to bring their own lunch, (2) accountability tags, approved PPE & SCBA w/ spare cylinder each day.

FIRE FIGHTER II - PRO BOARD (HYBRID)

  • Description: This NEW program will consist of online lectures, videos, assignments and on-site practical evolutions to meet the competencies for certification in the State of New Jersey and Pro Board Certification. This course will meet the N.F.P.A. 1001 standard for level II certification. This course is designed to instruct the students on the subjects / modules required for Fire Fighter II certification. Any student meeting the requirement in a subject, and can produce a valid certificate for the subject / module, will be excused from attending that subject matter. Attending students will be required to pass a Pro-Board written examination, and tested on all practical skills to receive their accreditation.

  • Description: This NEW HYBRID 40 hour program will consist of ONLINE modules on the role of the instructor. The course and curriculum will follow the JPRs in the NFPA 1041 standard using the IFSTA 9th edition manual. Students will learn Presentation Skills and Lesson Plan development. Student activities and instructional methods will be conducted through out the program. All of the topics interact with lesson plans and how to test the student's performance. The students will be given homework assignments and will be required to develop a presentation for review. Students will be given the NJ State written exam and JPR Testing on campus at the end of the course.

  • Description: This NEW HYBRID 40 hour program will consist of ONLINE modules on the role of the experienced instructor. All of these topics interact with creation of “Live Fire” lesson plans and how to test the student’s performance. Students learn how to integrate IMS and IAPs in their training evolutions while maintaining the learning environment. Students will be given the NJ State written exam and JPR Testing on campus at the end of the course.

  • Content: Students will examine additional modules in the Incident Management System. Various topics will be covered to include personnel staffing levels, organizing events, and what a resource manager responsibilities are. In addition, subjects on staffing positions and span of control will be review, and the required documentation for all major incidents. Attending students will also be required to work in group sessions being assigned emergency incidents to command in table-top scenarios.

  • Content: Students will recognize the laws and standards that require effective management techniques, the need for unity, chain of command and the proper transfer of command. Additional instruction will encompass span of control, personnel accountability, and how to use an incident action plan. Discussions on the development of a single resource, task force and strike team use will assist the student in successfully accomplishing the assignment under their command.

  • Content: The Drill Grounds Instructor course is a State of New Jersey program designed to assist fire department members, and or those looking to become instructors, in the guidelines and standards to keep training programs safe for people attending. Instructor’s must be capable of demonstrating the proper techniques new to the emergency services, and identify the correct procedures when conducting evolutions. This class is a prerequisite for any instructor seeking certification testing in the State of New Jersey. The class will cover subjects in the use of a classroom, lesson plan development, procedures in use of exterior training props, proper inspection procedures, and the associated reports necessary for injuries.

  • Content: This course has been developed to provide the beginner driver/operator with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to complete the varied tasks in the emergency response field. Students will be trained to become a proficient driver and pump operator. Students will review the legal requirements, proper maintenance checks and record keeping associated with this responsibility. Additional curriculum in basic hydraulics, pump operations and vehicle restoration will be examined. The class will continue with a field exercise utilizing the principles reviewed in the classroom on the safe operator functions.
