CONTENT: The Awareness portion of this program is designed as the first phase and Prerequisite for the Camden County College’s RETC Confined Space Training Series. This series covers Awareness, Operations, and Technician Level programs along with Technical Skills enhancement classes. The objective is to provide the students with an Awareness training levels for the Confined Space environment, as per NFPA and Confined Space Industry Standards. The Operations portion of this program is designed as the second phase of the Camden County College’s RETC Confined Space Training Series. This section, of the series, covers the hands-on operations of basic and intermediate Confined Space rescue skills. The Operations program covers the requirements of NFPA along with current Confined Space Industry Standards.

CONTENT: This program combines a series of lectures approved by healthcare professionals, with hands on skill labs, and clinical experiences. We’ve created a superior entry level Emergency Medical Technician class that gives you the ability to care for a sick or injured individual. Following successful completion of the program, the student is eligible to attend the New Jersey State EMT testing. Students will have the opportunity for clinical experiences in local dispatch centers, emergency departments, on mobile intensive care units and basic life support units. The program is a cooperative effort between Camden County Regional Emergency Training Center, Underwood Memorial Hospital, EMS Academy and Cooper University Medical Center. The curriculum meets the New Jersey specific educational needs of those individuals aspiring to become an Emergency Medical Technician. At the conclusion of the program the student will be significantly more competent, and posses a well defined sense of clinical judgment in today’s environment. REQUIREMENT(S): All students must be at least sixteen years of age by the first day of class in order to enroll in the program. Students must be certified in CPR level by the American Red Cross, or the American Heart Association. In order to obtain New Jersey State EMT Certification students must be physically capable of performing all skills, complete a final written test with a minimum score of 70 and meet all class requirements. A health screening and tuberculin skin test may be required.

CONTENT: This 19-hour program will consist of a classroom lecture and "Hands-On" sessions reviewing the fundamentals of basic Engine & Truck Company operations. Topics to be covered include, apparatus placement, aerial operations, engine company functions, "Live Fire" scenarios and the tactical considerations personnel face at each incident. Students will be given practical exercises utilizing various tools and equipment associated with standard operations.

CONTENT: This NEW program will consist of online lectures, videos, assignments and on-site practical evolutions to meet the competencies for certification in the State of New Jersey and Pro Board Certification. This course will meet the N.F.P.A. 1001 standard for level I certification. This course is designed to instruct the students on the subjects / modules required for Fire Fighter I certification. Attending students will be required to pass a Pro-Board written examination, and tested on all practical skills to receive their accreditation.

LARGE AREA SEARCH

CONTENT: A large area search is a search where a team is entering a fire building to do a primary or secondary search under arduous conditions because of a known life hazard. This type of search is used in a building that does not require a wide-open-area search or a patterned search. Instead, this type of search uses the rope to secure and control an exit point from the fire area. Building types include office buildings, apartment houses with long hallways or stores with aisles that have stock and merchandise in place. This class will teach and demonstrate different ways on how to effectively accomplish a large area search task.

CONTENT: This NEW HYBRID 40 hour program will consist of ONLINE modules based on NFPA 1021 Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications.Course work will be a combination self paced home study utilizing the Jones and Bartlett online classroom and pre recorded video lectures for each of 8 required chapters and 2-3 in person Job Performance Requirement (JPR) sessions over the duration of the program. This course will be accessible to those with a “weekday” or “weekend” schedule with JPR sessions scheduled on either/or weekend or weekday availability based on students’ schedules.
JPR sessions allow for student/instructor interaction and coaching while completing tasks such as: incident size up and initial orders, post incident analysis, evaluating and addressing safety issues, investigating accidents, handling personnel issues such as performance evaluations, discipline issues and recommending employee actions.
The course coordinator and/or instructors will schedule regular, non mandatory virtual check in conferences during the duration of the course. Pro Board testing will be scheduled at the conclusion of the course.The curriculum will cover challenges, opportunities, effective communication, roles within an organization, management, leadership, safety, construction, fire investigation, training, planning and more.

Additional curriculum in basic hydraulics, pump operations and vehicle restoration will be examined. The class will continue with a field exercise utilizing the principles reviewed in the classroom on the safe operator functions.

CONTENT: A 4-hour classroom lecture will cover the commonly found problems in the emergency services' response as a Rapid Intervention Team. The awareness level course takes the student from the time of dispatch up until the "Mayday" transmission. A reiew of the responsibility, equipment needed, and what proactive task needs to be completed on every RIT assignment will be discussed. On a dialy basis, firefighters place themselves in life and death situations that could trap our own. Students will be guided through various techniques during the lecture and given an opportunity to discuss concepts. (This class will be a pre-requisite for additional RIC-Team courses offered at this academy)

CONTENT: This 19-hour program will consist of a lecture on the role of the first responder, EMS, and various tools used in extrication. Students will review the principles of removing victims from wrecks and how vehicle construction is changing, making the process more difficult. The Sunday session will consist of hands-on field evolutions using various rescue tools giving the participant the skills and knowledge needed to operate safely.
