This course focuses on the ability of non-native English speakers to read and write English at a basic level. It is designed for students whose placement scores indicate limited or no ability to read and write in English. Students review the English alphabet and then write simple sentences about their own lives and experience. As they study vocabulary, they move to reading and writing longer simple sentences using the structures and concepts they have studied. Basic grammatical structures are introduced and practiced in class through writing.
