In September 2008, New Jersey passed the Comprehensive State-Wide Transfer Agreement, also known as Lampitt Law. Lampitt Law allows students to smoothly transfer from a New Jersey Community College to a New Jersey public four-year college or university.

The agreement provides a complete transfer of the Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) degree credits for community college graduates who plan to enroll in a similar major at the four-year college/university and have followed the recommended guidelines outlined on NJ Transfer.

Students graduating from Camden County College (CCC) with an AA or AS degree are not guaranteed admission to college by this law. However, for students accepted to the four-year institution, this law respects and protects those degree credits earned, up to 1/2 of the coordinating bachelor’s degree. Typically, this means students can transfer up to a maximum of 60 credits.

The law also instructs the four-year institution to transfer the AA or AS degree credits to completely satisfy that college’s first and second year core distribution. As a county college graduate, students should expect to enter the four-year school with junior status.

Please note: The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) and the Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) degrees are not protected by this law. There are, of course, some exceptions. Upper-division majors, which lead to licensed fields and majors accredited by an outside agency, are not bound by this agreement.
