Dental Radiology Technician
There is a workforce shortage for dental assistants with the NJ Dental Radiologic Technologist License. This program is designed to prepare students for the New Jersey Limited-Dental Radiographer License, LRT(d), through didactic, laboratory and clinical real-world experiences and to prepare the student for the Radiation Health and Safety Dental Assisting Nation Board Exam.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
At the end of the program, the graduate will be able to:
- Explain the physics and technical aspects of radiation production and exposure.
- Demonstrate the process for obtaining periapical, bitewing, occlusal and panoramic radiographs.
- Explain the procedures used in dental x-ray film processing.
- Identify anatomical landmarks in preparation for mounting and preliminary interpretation of radiographs.
- Describe measures taken to ensure patient and operator safety when exposing radiographs.
