10 Students who have taken PHY-101 or PHY-102 cannot use PHY-201 or PHY-202 to fulfill the 200 level laboratory Science General Education Electives.
11 Prerequisite for PHY102: PHY-101; Prerequisite for PHY-202: PHY-201
12 Prerequisite: Minimum of 30 completed credits; 12 credits in BIO, 8 credits in MTH or SCI and a minimum GPA of 2.5, Permission of Instructor

Program Student Learning Outcomes

At the end of the program, the graduate will be able to:

  1. Explain the principle of evolution as the major unifying theme of biology.
  2. Explain cellular structure and physiology.
  3. Explain the basic principles of molecular biology and genetics.
  4. Apply the scientific method to conduct experiments.
  5. Identify and differentiate cells and tissues using a microscope.
  6. Utilize primary and secondary sources in the scientific literature to obtain biological information.

Post-Baccalaureate Employment Opportunities

  • Researcher in pharmaceutical and biomedical laboratories
  • Laboratory technician
  • Preparation for pre-professional careers such as medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine
