Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the Camden County Department of Economic and Workforce Development, met with the students enrolled in the inaugural NJ BUILD program at Camden County College’s Camden City Campus on Wednesday, July 24.
“As the demand for skilled trade workers continues to rise, we are excited to offer this no-cost pre-apprenticeship training program to our residents,” said Young, a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. “We hope the knowledge and training they gained from the NJ BUILD program will lead them to gainful employment in their trade of choice.”
NJ BUILD (Builders Utilization Initiative for Labor Diversity) is a 6-week career pathways program that provides training in the construction trades industry for women and minorities, and places program graduates into registered apprenticeships or construction jobs. NJ BUILD is funded by the New Jersey Department of Labor and is supported by New Jersey Pathways to Apprenticeship, a non-profit organization dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating pathways for aspiring individuals to enter the registered building trades apprenticeship programs.
This program is made possible by New Jersey Pathways 2 Apprenticeship and the Laborers’ International Union of North America.
