African-American History Month Events Set at Camden County College

 

Camden County College is marking African-American History Month with a series of events that are free, thanks to sponsorship by the Office of Student Life and Activities.

 

Scheduled for the College community and the public are:

 

● 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 15: Exhibit of slavery artifacts and Jim Crow memorabilia from the collection of the Lest We Forget Museum. Cafeteria, first floor, College Hall, Camden City Campus, Broadway and Cooper Street, Camden. Free.

 

● Noon to 7 p.m. Feb. 16: Exhibit of slavery artifacts and Jim Crow memorabilia from the collection of the Lest We Forget Museum. Lobby, William G. Rohrer Center, Route 70 and Springdale Road, Cherry Hill. Free.

 

● Noon Feb. 21: Reading and talk by Theodore R. Goyins III, author of the poetry collection Expressions of a Man: Expressions of Faith, Family, Love and Life. Student Lounge, fifth floor, College Hall, Camden City Campus, Broadway and Cooper Street, Camden. Free.

 

● Noon Feb. 22: “African-American Trivia Game Show,” hosted by WDBK 91.5 FM, an event- and music-themed quiz show with prizes. Cyber Café, second floor, Otto R. Mauke Community Center, Blackwood Campus, College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road, Gloucester Township. Free.

 

Scheduled for Camden County College students, faculty and staff only are:

 

● Noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28: Tasting of Southern and soul-food dishes from Corinne’s Place, with music provided by WDBK 91.5 FM. West Cafeteria, second floor, Otto R. Mauke Community Center, Blackwood Campus, College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road, Gloucester Township. Free.

 

● Noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 29: Tasting of Southern and soul-food dishes from Corinne’s Place, with a praise dance performed by student Takreeya Hawkins. Cafeteria, first floor, College Hall, Camden City Campus, Broadway and Cooper Street, Camden. Free.
