Upward Bound Academy
Programs
The Upward Bound Academy offers
two separate, but inter-related sessions. The first
occurs
during the academic year. Students attend English
and mathematics labs at the College's Blackwood and
Camden City Campuses, visit historic and cultural sites,
earn stipends, attend monthly meetings and work on projects
that enhance their skills. Some students qualify for
a state-funded jobs program. In their schools, students
work closely with counselors and teachers who offer
tutoring services and help resolve lifestyle issues.
The second session is a six-week summer program. Students
receive a more intense academic instruction program
including foreign languages, math, English, SAT preparation
and computer science. They also enjoy recreational events
and activities such as field trips to museums and science
centers. The emphasis is on making education a fun experience!
