Why Tech Prep?
Competition for new businesses and industries in both
the United States and the world marketplace is creating
new job opportunities, which requires additional education
and training. The goal of Tech Prep is to improve the
quality of new workers entering the workforce.
A high school diploma is no longer enough to secure
a good paying job in many technical fields. We need
to consider the idea that education for many people
should span at least 14 years-high school plus two years
of technical or community college to become qualified
for today’s new jobs.
Today’s job market does not require that everyone
have a four year college degree, however, it does demand
employees who can solve technical problems and communicate
ideas with others. People who have the necessary technical
skills and knowledge as well as the ability to think
and use common sense on the job will be needed in greater
numbers.
