Camden County College has played a leading role in Tech Prep endeavors for twenty years. Our first Tech Prep (called 2+2) was established in 1983 in Automotive Technology.

In 1992, Camden County College and the 14 Camden County Public school districts formed a consortium for the purpose of implementing a new educational initiative called Tech Prep. Known as the Camden County Tech Prep Consortium, this partnership provides a pathway for those who wish to attend two-year colleges, earn associate degrees and work in one of the many technology careers. Tech Prep is founded under two sections of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act, through grants to the states.

Now comprising 22 Camden County high schools and 8 regional vocational technical schools, this consortium continues to emphasize the importance of the seamless connectivity of secondary and higher education.
