Department of Education launches identity theft prevention web site
A new section of the Department of Education's Web site is devoted to identity theft and fraud prevention in student financial aid. The site is intended for students and campus administrators. Topics covered include reducing your risk of ID theft, what to do if you are a victim, school responsibilities, and scholarship scams. Visit the site at http://www.ed.gov/misused.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES
August Book Accounts for the fall semester are available for eligible students in early August. In order to be eligible for financial aid toward your books you must have completed your financial aid file by published deadlines and must be registered for the fall semester. Book accounts expire on October 1.
September Census date (approximately the tenth day of the 15-week semester) is used to determine every student’s enrollment for the financial aid programs. If you add classes after the census date your financial aid will not be increased. However, if you drop (withdraw from or stop attending) classes after the census date your financial aid will be decreased accordingly.
October Book Accounts expire on October 1 for the fall semester. Any funds that you have not spent will be refunded to you in your stipend check.
October Priority registration for the spring semester begins for currently enrolled students during the last week of October. Register early for the best selection of classes and so that your Book Account will be available at the beginning of the spring semester.
November Open registration for the spring semester begins for all students during the first week of November. Register early for the best selection of classes and so that your Book Account will be available at the beginning of the spring semester.
November Refunds, called stipends, of financial aid grants are mailed to students. An initial stipend check consisting of any credit balance from your state grant and the first disbursement of your Pell grant will be mailed at the end of the first full week in November.

December The financial aid office reviews the fall semester grades for all aid recipients. If you failed to remain enrolled in your classes your financial aid may be cancelled in full or in part. If your financial aid is cancelled you will remain responsible for the cost of your tuition, fees, bookstore purchases and any aid that was disbursed in a stipend.

YOUR BOOK ACCOUNT ALLOWANCE IS DEDUCTED FROM YOUR GRANTS AND LOANS; IT IS NOT A SEPARATE OR ADDITIONAL TYPE OF FINANCIAL AID.
YOU MUST REMAIN ENROLLED AND MUST ATTEND YOUR CLASSES TO MAINTAIN YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL AID. IF YOU NEVER ATTEND OR STOP ATTENDING YOUR FINANCIAL AID WILL BE CANCELLED AND RETROACTIVELY REMOVED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT.
IF YOUR FINANCIAL AID IS CANCELLED YOU REMAIN RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CHARGES (INCLUDING TUITION, BOOKS, FEES AND STIPEND CHECKS) THAT YOU INCUR AT CAMDEN COUNTY COLLEGE.
