EMT
TRAINING
The
School offers Emergency Medical Technician-Basic training
for those wishing to begin a career in Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) or for firefighters, police officers and
other emergency oriented professionals. This 150 hour course
follows the national standard curriculum as promulgated
by the Department of Transportation. All students will complete
10 hours of clinical training. Five (5)
hours will be in an emergency department and five (5) hours
will be a ride-along on a Virtua Health paramedic vehicle.
New Jersey now uses its own EMT certification
exam and no
longer utilizes the EMT certification exam as provided by
the National Registry
of EMT's. Students wishing to take the National
Registry exam will be assisted by the course coordinator
in the process for registration.
Students
who successfully complete the training will be awarded five
(5) college credits by Camden County College.
