DEGREE COMPLETION FOR CERTIFIED/LICENSED PARAMEDICS

This is a degree completion program. It is comprised of nine (9) credits of professional education, 22 general education credits and 33 life experience credits**. Paramedics with current and valid certifications or licenses from anywhere in the world may apply.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
Topics in Paramedic Care (6 credits) - Required for all students. This course is designed to enhance the core knowledge of the experienced paramedic through the application of knowledge and experience in expanding critical thinking skills. The course will discuss roles and responsibilities, ethics, medical-legal issues, and death and dying. After completion of this course, students will choose either an EMS management or EMS education option in following semesters.

EMS Education Option (3 credits) - This course is intended to give the student an understanding of the guidelines that are essential to the development, implementation, and coordination of an EMS education program. It is not intended to be the final step in this process, rather, it is should be a starting point for those seeking to develop their career in EMS Education. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, characteristics of the adult learner, instruction techniques, lesson plans, evaluations, counseling, record keeping, instructor qualifications, media, and course evaluations

EMS Management Option(3 credits) - This course is designed to provide the student an understanding of the management issues in the administration of an EMS system. It is not intended to be the final step in this process, rather, it is should be a starting point for those seeking to develop their career in EMS Management. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to; management qualifications, medical direction, quality assurance, equipment, vehicles, and communications.

Basic Psychology
Laboratory Science General Education Elective
Biomedical Ethics
Mathematics General Education Elective

All the required courses can be taken online through Camden County College. The platform utilized is WebStudy.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
Camden County College has a residency requirement stating that a minimum of 30 credits applied to any degree must be taken at Camden County College. This is non-negotiable.

**LIFE EXPERIENCE
Paramedics with a current and valid certification or license will be awarded 33 credits at the completion of all other studies. Certifications/licenses must remain valid for the duration of the program or be renewed prior to their expiration date. Students with expired credentials will not be awarded these credits. A processing fee for applying life experience credits to your transcript will be assessed by Camden County College.
