Writer’s Workshop Including the Use of Mentor Texts Grades K-5

A student’s literacy development is dependent on the interconnection between reading and writing. This workshop will address effective practices in the use of Writer’s Workshop as well as the value of using mentor texts to teach students to be strong writers and have a greater passion for reading and writing. Specific writing strategies will be modeled that include the use of the 6 Traits

Terri Griffin is a reading specialist who spent 35 years teaching at all grade levels. She is an energetic presenter who now provides professional development in all areas of literacy. Terri is also a professor at Rowan University, working in the Education Department with undergraduate and graduate students. She has a passion for helping other teachers to grow in their profession in order to incorporate best practices in their classrooms.
