Roads and Parking Updates
Traffic Alerts
Traffic Advisory: DON’T BE LATE ON YOUR FIRST DAY OF CLASS!
Important Information about New Traffic Patterns at Camden County College, Blackwood Campus.
College Drive from Peter Cheeseman Road to the Black Horse Pike (Route 168) will remain CLOSED to all traffic while the Route 42 interchange project progresses. The only entrance or exit for the Blackwood Campus is by Peter Cheeseman Road (Little Gloucester Road).
This road closure is expected to remain in effect for at least 6 weeks. All students and faculty are advised to expect delays when coming to or leaving the Blackwood Campus, especially between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Police will be controlling the traffic signals at many area intersections. Please use caution and look for an officer’s direction on area roadways and College parking lots. Take the posted alternate routes when you can.
Avoid being late by giving yourself plenty of travel time to get to and from classes. Expect to arrive to the college at least one half-hour early for the first week of classes until you learn the new traffic and parking patterns, both on and off campus. When leaving, avoid being in a rush. Wait for the congestion to clear instead of waiting in traffic. Take the time to have lunch on campus or catch up on your homework for 30 minutes. You can avoid frustration if you plan.
We appreciate your cooperation while we work together to build a better Camden County College.

Parking Tips:
- Arrive about 30 minutes before the start of your classes for the first few weeks. Being late and in a hurry will not help the situation and will only frustrate you and ruin your day.
- Don’t shop for the closest parking spaces. Follow the signs for parking. There is always a place to park, but expect to walk a few hundred yards to your class. Trying to park close to a building just wastes your time and aggravates you. You can park in an open space and walk with less frustration.
- Once you park, don’t try to move your vehicle between classes. Again, it will only lead to more wasted time and aggravation.
- Park between in white lined spaces only and avoid reserved spaces and lots. Summons start at $25.00 per violation and you will have to pay them to get your grades so avoid the grief.
- Lock your books, purses CDs, cash and other valuables in the trunk.
The Camden County College Transformation Project Continues.
Here is what is happening during Fall / Winter 2009
Route 42 Interchange
The Camden County Board of Freeholders in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Transportation is constructing a new smart interchange at College Drive and Rt. 42.
This “full” interchange will provide access to the College from both directions on the highway and similarly provide access to the freeway for motorists heading either towards Camden or Atlantic City.
The interchange project includes the construction of a new entrance to the College on College Drive just south of the existing College Drive entrance (and just before Washington Hall). The existing entrance will be closed as part of the project. A “round-a-bout” will anchor the new entrance area and serve to define this new gateway into the College.
The new entrance will include a landscaped road with streetlights that will match the existing College models and landscape plantings. The NJDOT has also agreed to utilize signage in the areas approaching the College that will bear the College colors and design scheme. This standard NJDOT signage will also serve as a means to convey the proximity of the campus to motorists.
As part of the project, and consistent with the College’s master plan, Washington Hall and the former Optical Clinic will be demolished at the completion of the interchange.
The interchange will serve as a major asset to the College and help advance the development of the Blackwood campus.
As the project progresses, changing traffic patterns can be expected through out the project. To avoid inconvenience during your commute, check this site regularly for traffic notices and construction updates.
New Science Building
There are many exciting projects going on here at Camden County College, not the least of which is the design and construction of a new Science Building. The Building currently in the design phase will be located adjacent to the Taft and the Laser Institute. Watch this site for more information in the near future.
Development of the Ring Road and streetscape
Also, in its design phase is the construction of a College Ring Road that will connect all campus roads together to make it easier to traverse the campus. This project includes new parking lots, sidewalks and street lighting. Watch this site for more information in the near future.
