New One-Day Boating Safety Class at Camden Counry College on May 3

Local boaters will have the opportunity to complete New Jersey State Police Boating Certification by taking a one-day Camden County College class that costs just $99 and has the potential to reduce the cost of their boat insurance.

“Safe Boating” will be offered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 3 on the College’s Blackwood Campus, which is located at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township. Plentiful free, off-road parking is available.

CCC’s eight-hour class consists of seven lessons and a 60-question multiple-choice test. Students who pass the test receive a temporary certificate before they leave the classroom that day and a final certificate in the mail shortly thereafter. Many insurance companies will offer discounts on boating policies to those who earn this credential.

The course begins with an introduction to boating. The lessons include “Boating Law”; “Boat Safety Equipment”; “Safe Boating”; “Navigation”; “Boating Problems”; “Trailering, Storing and Protecting Your Boat”; and “Hunting and Fishing, Water-Skiing and River Boating.”

Prospective enrollees may visit www.camdencc.edu/ce/newcoursesce.cfm for further details. Participants may do register online using the WebAdvisor link on that page or by visiting any of the College’s locations in Blackwood, Camden or Cherry Hill.
