Enjoy a Fine Dining Experience at CCC'S Student-Run Back Door Café
Delectable five-course meals consumed on fine linens amid low chandelier lighting are available for just $25 per person at the Technical Institute of Camden County College’s Back Door Café every Thursday evening from now through May 30.
The Technical Institute’s adult culinary students staff the Back Door Café, preparing and serving the gourmet feast as well as setting up and bussing the tables, as part of their curriculum. The Institute’s faculty dining room is transformed each week into an elegant, upscale locale perfect for a delicious, relaxing dining event.
Menu selections include shrimp cocktail, seafood bisque, Caesar salad, filet of beef in burgundy wine sauce, broiled salmon in a lemon dill sauce, pasta primavera, veal cordon bleu and chicken, shrimp and scallops in a cream sauce. Assorted beverages and desserts are offered as well.
TICCC culinary students take evening classes in culinary arts and restaurant operations. These courses include training in food preparation, line cooking and kitchen operations along with the skills of table setting, customer service, sanitation, food-service technology and catering.
The Back Door Café is operated by the students under the direction of their professional-chef instructors. Doing so allows them to put all of their classroom lessons into action, gaining pre-graduation experience for their résumés and practical knowledge that can only be learned in the field.
The Back Door Café is located on the Sicklerville Campus of Camden County Technical Schools on Berlin-Cross Keys Road. It opens at 7 p.m. every Thursday, and reservations are required. Payment may be made by cash or check only.
