CCC Men's Basketball Player is Top-Ranked in Nation
Camden County College center DeLeon Floyd is currently ranked number one in blocks per game by the National Junior College Athletic Association for Division III men’s basketball. The second-year student from Clementon has been averaging 5.8 blocks per game.
Floyd also is ranked 15th nationwide in rebounds. He is averaging 11.3 per game.
Two of Floyd’s teammates also are ranked nationally. Tim McDaniels, a second-year guard from Blackwood, is ranked eighth in assists, averaging 6.1 per game, and 11th in steals, averaging 3.3 per game. Stephen Wade, a first-year center from Sicklerville, is ranked 20th in blocks, averaging 1.9 per game.
The men’s team has posted a 7-2 record both within Region XIX and overall. Their next home game will be against Union County College at 5 p.m. Dec. 15 in Papiano Gymnasium on CCC’s Blackwood Campus in Gloucester Township.
Three members of the Camden County College women’s basketball team also are ranked nationally. Courtney Luongo, a second-year forward from Pine Hill, is ranked seventh in rebounds, averaging 12.6 per game. Kierra Smith, a second-year forward from Lawnside, is ranked eighth in scoring, averaging 18 points per game. Carnora Payter, a first-year guard from Lindenwold, is ranked ninth in assists, averaging 4.7 per game.
The Lady Cougars’ next home game will be against Middlesex County College at noon Dec. 17, also in Papiano Gymnasium on the Blackwood Campus.
