Technology Planning Group: Operating Principles
Purpose:
The Information Technology Planning Group (ITPG)
is a standing advisory committee that reports to the
President. The
purpose of the group is to provide guidance to, as well
as monitor the progress of, College-wide information
technology initiatives. Membership is representative of the interests
of faculty, staff and administration.
Membership:
The ITPG consists of a member group that includes: faculty
(representatives from each division recommended by the
deans); administrators (one dean plus one representative
from the offices of continuing education, administrative
services, enrollment services and library) and support
staff. The Executive Director of the Office of Information
Technology is an ex-officio member who provides staff
support to the committee.
2006-2007
Members
Leadership:
The ITPG is chaired by the Vice President for Information
Technology who has functional responsibility for leading
the technology unit and implementation of the plan,
with a representative of the academic area of the College
Members can be appointed for two years with no more
than 50% of the group turning over within a one-year
period. This ensures continuity and outreach to the
College community.
Subgroups:
From time-to-time, the ITPG may form ad hoc committee
to research specific issues (e.g., technology funding,
acceptable use policy). In addition, there may be subgroup
standing committees that are changed with coordinating
technology efforts in specific areas (e.g., instruction,
student information systems). In all cases, groups working on technology-related
projects should be connected to the technology planning
structure.
