Administration Option

Associate in Applied Science, A.A.S.

The Fire Science Technology Program follows the NFA FESHE model for professional training and education for individuals seeking advancement in the fire science and other related fields.

 

Provides students with the:

  • Ability to transfer to four-year colleges and universities offering baccalaureate degrees in fire science and administration

  • Knowledge of building and fire codes

  • Fire department operations and management

  • Logic and reasonings needed in the field of fire investigation

  • Understanding of the sociological, psychological, and economic problems relating to fire

  • Commitment to continuing learning through ongoing in-service training and education

 

This program option prepares individuals in the fire service to become administrators in fire departments or managers in a fire-related industry. 

 

Provides students with the :

  • Ability to transfer to four-year colleges and universities offering baccalaureate degrees in fire science and administration

  • Eligibility to test for State of NJ Fire Inspector Certification and the State of NJ Instructor Level II Certification through the Division of Fire Safety.

  • Knowledge and understanding of managing a fire department, prevention bureau or fire-related industry

*The following State of NJ Certificates shall be given college credits to be used to meet the requirements for the dgeree:

          NJ Fire Fighter I certifiation - 3 credits as FIR 101

          NJ EMT B Certifcation - 5 credits EMT-100

 

*The following Division of Forestry certificate shall be given college credits to be used to meet the requirements for the degree:

          NWCG Wild-Land Firefighter- 3 credits as FIR-101 or FIR-106

 

*Students must present the certificate(s) to the coordinator of the Fire Science Program.  


Fire Science Certificates:

  • Fire science certificates are available in either fire suppression or fire administration. Each certificate contains five core courses with the remaining courses specifically related to either the fire suppression or fire administration certificate.

  • Insurance industry

  • Alarm and sprinkler industry

  • State, municipal, and local governments
