PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Mentorship Program
Mentor interpreters will work with novice interpreters in specific skill areas identified in the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA). The mentor will meet with the novice for a minimum of ten to twenty hours outside of school/employment time. Mentors and novices who work in the same school may observe each other as time permits. If a novice lives at a great distance, the coordinator of the training program will arrange to have the novice video-taped.

Certified Interpreters and interpreters having passed the NJ DDHH screening, who have attended a mentorship workshop, as well as current adjunct faculty and EIPDC staff will serve as mentors.
