Admission Information
In addition to the regular
admission requirements for the College, the following requirements
are recommended for this program: the applicant should have completed
a college preparatory course of study. The high school record should
also include one year of biology with a laboratory and one year of
chemistry with a laboratory. If the student has not had high school
biology or chemistry, it is recommended that the student complete
the Preparation for Biology and Preparation for Chemistry courses
before attempting college level courses.
The results of the College Placement Test
should show the student is ready to take English Composition I and
the program requirements in mathematics. If the College Placement
Test show deficiencies in reading, writing, or math skills, students
will be expected to take the appropriate courses to prepare them for
college level work. For those students who want to pursue the program,
but lack the scientific background, the program can be lengthened
to provide the prerequisites for more specialized courses. Experience
in the field of animal care and veterinary assisting is desirable
but not necessary for admission.
Students wishing to register for the Animal
Science Technology program must meet with the Clinical Director or
Program Coordinator for permission to enter this program. Appointments
can be made through the biology department secretary, Joanne Ferrante at 227-7200 ext. 4247.
