Currently, there are two programs that provide opticianry courses: the Ophthalmic Dispensing Degree Program, and the Ophthalmic Dispensing Apprentice Program.

Ophthalmic Dispensing Degree Program
Curriculum
The Ophthalmic Dispensing Degree Program provides full time instruction over a two- year period. Successful completion of the program earns students the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing.

The degree program is accredited by the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation (COA), which assures that graduates are allowed to seek licensure and work in any state that recognizes this accreditation. Students who complete the program are also eligible to sit for the New Jersey State Board Exams to become a licensed optician, after working only four months as an optician trainee. This program also prepares candidates to achieve national certifications in opticianry and contact lens fitting, as awarded by the American Board of Opticians (ABO), and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE).
