1. Camden County College offers membership
in Alpha Mu Gamma to students studying: Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, German, Greek,
Latin, Russian and Spanish
Nu Theta, is a chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma at CCC, the largest collegiate foreign language honor society in the United
States.This Honor Society is found both in state and private universities,
four-year as well as two-year colleges. Its primary purpose is to honor
students for outstanding achievement during their first year of foreign
language study in college. However, students may be admitted at any stage
in their college careers. A candidate for Full Membership of Alpha Mu
Gamma, applying through a chapter, shall have completed at least two college
level courses of the same foreign language with a final course grades
of "A". A candidate shall also have attained a minimum 3.0 accumalitive
Grade Point Average. Upon initiation a member receives a parchment certificate
of membership and may wear the scroll-shaped gold key or pin.
The Society offers annually, on a competitive basis to all student members
of Alpha Mu Gamma who are planning on continuing to study a foreign language,
the following scholarships: Three scholarships of $500 (for all languages),
one $400 (for the study of French) in conjunction to the summer scholarship
offered by the University of Laval in Quebec (Canada), and one $200 (for
the study of Esperanto or Spanish). |
