Medical Radiography Technology Option - Associate in Applied Science Degree (RAD.AAS)
Program Description
Radiologic Technologists (Radiographers) are professional members of a healthcare tam who perform a vital function in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Radiologic Technologists use their knowledge of radiographic procedures, human anatomy and physiology, exposure techniques, physics, radiation protection and radiation biology to create permanent medical images using (x-ray) ionizing radiation to assist with patient diagnosis and treatment. Radiologic Technologists who are graduates of a radiography program are eligible to receive college credit for their post-secondary education. All applicants to this program must take a required core of courses consisting of a minimum of 44 college credits. Radiologic Technicians are eligible to apply for a maximum of 22 additional college credits toward an Associate in Health Science degree, Radiography Technology Option.
Program Information
- All applicants must take a required core of courses consisting of a minimum of 44 college credits.
- Radiologic Technologists who are graduates of an accredited radiography program are eligible to receive 22 college credits for their post-secondary education and can apply these credits toward an Associate in Health Science degree.
- Students will demonstrate competencies in communication skills, critical thinking, mathematics, science and technology, individual and societal behavior, aesthetic perspective, ethical awareness, health and well-being and computer skills.
- Students are responsible for application to a School of Radiography following completion of prerequisite curriculum listed in Camden County College's academic program guide. Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ offers an accredited Radiography Program.
Special Admission Requirements for non-Radiologic Technologists
- Graduates from an approved secondary school or obtain a GED
- Students must contact a radiology school and apply for admission as soon as they begin their courses at Camden County College
- Submission of a high school/college transcript to the radiography school and Camden County College
- Completion of College prerequisite courses, as listed in the catalog with a "C" or better.
Degree Requirements for Radiologic Technologists
In addition to the admission requirements of the College, the following criteria are required:
- Submission of diploma or certificate from an accredited Radiography Technology Program to the Allied Health Coordinator
- Completion of the health science academic program courses at Camden County College

Student Objectives
Upon successful completion of all required course work in the health science curriculum, the student will:
- Receive an Associate in Applied Science degree in Health Science: Radiography Technology Option.
- Earn 22 credits for completing a post secondary allied health program and Camden County College credits.
- Demonstrate competencies in communication skills, critical thinking, mathematics, science and technology, individual and societal behavior, aesthetic perspective, ethical awareness, health and well being, and computer skills.
