Phlebotomy
Program Description
A phlebotomist uses learned techniques and special equipment to obtain venous blood specimens as ordered by a physician. Camden County College offers two courses in Phlebotomy; ALH-115 Basic Phlebotomy Techniques and ALH-116 Phlebotomy Clinical Practicum. Both courses are offered in a 7-week format. They are scheduled one after the other in the 15-week semester of fall and spring. ALH-116 has a limited enrollment. Enrollment is directed by the Director of Clinical Laboratory Science.
Program Attributes
Successful completion of the two courses enables the student to submit an application to a national organization for testing to become a registered/certified phlebotomist.
Admission requirements
The students must apply to the Program Director for information pertaining to admission to the ALH-116 course. Students are required to have a criminal background check, a physical examination, various immunizations and proof of medical insurance prior to admission to a clinical internship associated with the ALH-116 course. ESL students are required to have completed the College‘s ESL program and have a iBT TOEFLE score of no lower that 80.
