Program Description
This fine arts degree in studio arts program prepares students for
transfer into four-year art colleges as well as providing foundation
art skills for those pursuing careers in the visual arts.
Program Information
This program will:
• Provide students with a foundation in fine art
• Prepare students for further study in the arts
• Provide a concentration of course work appropriate for a studio
artist
• Develop an understanding of aesthetics in order to evaluate the
art product
• Ensure transferability of course work to four-year art colleges
• Prepare students to produce a portfolio of work
Program Objectives
Upon successful completion of all course work, students will be
able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of vocabulary and analytical
skills necessary to participate in a dialogue about an art work
• Create and present various solutions to solving visual problems
• Communicate effectively in a visual manner
• Demonstrate competency in drawing, design and their art
specialization
• Identify the major art movements in the evolution of art
• Discuss current contemporary art in relation to their own art
