MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Division of Academic Support is to facilitate teaching and learning by providing services and resources that support the College’s educational mission in both onsite and virtual venues.

ABOUT US
Currently, the Division of Academic Support has three operational units.

Distance Learning Department
The term, “distance learning,’ encompasses learning in a virtual mode where the “virtual” aspect varies in intensity.  The variations include the following: course delivery that is completely online with no face to face interaction among faculty and students or students and students (although interactions are provided for through other strategies imbedded in the course); course delivery that is “hybrid” i.e., the course meets approximately half of the contact hours with a strong online presence facilitating the delivery of the course; a “web-assisted” environment refers to a course that meets face to face every class session, but teacher and students use a course Web site frequently to augment class delivery.

Instructional Support Department
The Instructional Support Department oversees the purchase, installation and repair of audio/visual equipment on all three campuses/sites. ISD also is responsible for setting up the necessary technology for College-related events both on campus and, if necessary, at external locations. The prime on-campus location for events historically has been the Dennis Flyer Theater where ISD is responsible for the lighting, sound and general technical maintenance of the facility.  That array of responsibilities will now extend to the Madison Connector Building meeting facility.  ISD also oversees the engineering aspects of the College radio station and assures FCC compliance with operations guidelines. 

Instructional Media Department
The Instructional Media Department is dedicated to assisting College faculty in the use of digital media technology in their research, instruction and outreach.  The department also provides advanced, one-on-one training and support to faculty for Web page design and an array of emerging technologies: digital imaging, graphic design and illustration, creation of media for the Web, Desktop publishing, multimedia presentations, digital video and the design and creation of CD’s and DVD’s

 The Teaching and Learning Center also comes under the jurisdiction of the Division of Academic Support.
